Israeli police released updates on Monday regarding a series of security incidents and discoveries spanning the West Bank and central Israel. These events include the recovery of a body near Bethlehem and the seizure of a large cache of stolen military equipment.
The body of a male Israeli resident in his 40s from East Jerusalem was located in the Wadi Rahal area near Bethlehem. Police, forensic investigators, and IDF soldiers collected evidence at the scene before the body was scheduled for transfer to the Abu Kabir Forensic Institute. Officials stated that initial findings classify the incident as criminal in nature rather than an act of terrorism.
In a separate operation during Sunday night raids in Bethlehem, security forces arrested a Palestinian resident with suspected ties to Hamas. Three suspects were detained in total as officers searched the home of the Hamas affiliate and another resident believed to possess weapons. Investigators confiscated a loaded hunting rifle, IDF uniforms, and various technological items. The two suspects were taken to the Ma'ale Adumim police station, where they face charges for possessing illegal weapons and unauthorized military equipment.
Further arrests occurred near Hebron, where officers detained a man in his 30s for possessing a hunting rifle and a large amount of ammunition. In Kalansuwa, a majority-Arab city in central Israel, police discovered a stash of weapons stolen from the IDF during a sweep aimed at reducing violent crime in the Arab sector. The cache included a Kalashnikov rifle, three M-16 assault rifles, eight handguns, six fragmentation grenades, two stun grenades, thousands of rounds of ammunition, and three tactical vests. A police explosives expert handled the grenades, and two family members present at the site were arrested for questioning.
Over the weekend, police in Rahat found a man chained to the floor of his home during a search for illegal weapons. Officers freed the man, whose leg was shackled, and preliminary findings suggest his family members had restrained him due to drug use. The man's brother was subsequently arrested and taken to the Rahat police station.
These incidents highlight the ongoing police efforts to recover stolen military assets and address localized security threats across multiple jurisdictions.
